Earlier last year, the City of Mesa announced plans to install a shared-use path along the east side of Power Road, starting at Mesa’s Loop 202 Park-and-Ride and extending north 1.5 miles to the city limits. Users will benefit from a 15-foot pathway, signalized crossing at Power Road and Redmont Drive and some landscape improvements. Information about the project was shared with residents last year, including a public meeting on April 25, 2023. The project has received final approval from the city council and is expected to commence later this year.
To complete this project, the city must acquire 1.5587 acres of Las Sendas property immediately adjacent to Power Road, which will become part of the City’s Right of Way. They also need a temporary construction easement of 0.8871 acres during construction. The City of Mesa presented the Board with an offer to acquire the property for $592,708. The offer was accompanied by two separate appraisals performed by certified, licensed appraisers.
The Board and the association’s legal counsel have reviewed the agreement and finalized negotiations. On January 10, the Board will hold a special open session meeting to make a final decision and is expected to approve the agreement.
